Our President has stated he is willing to go to war with the drug cartels. I think, if that happened, it would be the first war since WW2 where are troops were engaged in battle to directly protect our citizens' lives, safety and property. It's a war I could fully support.
The war on Terror indirectly protected the USA from another 9/11 type of attack but the cartels unlike the terrorists attack our communities daily. They steal our children's futures and cause untold damage to the country. They force people to flee and seek refugee here.
They sow chaos and discord in all parts of not just this country but in our nearest neighbors. Its gone beyond a "drug war" and the longer and stronger the cartels are allowed to grow the worse the problems will be. It's clear that treating it as a criminal matter isn't working.
