Some non-election news. In July, I lost my wife Andrea to liver disease. She was the kindest, cleverest, most brilliant person I ever knew. Today would have been her 41st birthday. (1/?) 
When we set up a crowdfunding appeal on @JustGiving to raise funds for research, we were blown away by the response. Including private donations, we’ve now raised at more than £100,000.
I’m pleased to announced today that we’re using that money to set up a new fund with @MedResFdn, to support cutting-edge research into autoimmune hepatitis.
The Medical Research Foundation is the charitable arm of @The_MRC. Its mission is to support research into neglected and underfunded diseases/conditions - and this very much qualifies.
I’m also pleased to say that our amazing friend @bryony_gordon, who started out with me at the @Telegraph, will be running the @LondonMarathon in Andrea’s memory uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-dis…
Bryony and I are godparents to each other’s children, and she’s been so incredibly supportive both during Andrea’s illness and during the hard months since. She tells the story beautifully in today’s Telegraph telegraph.co.uk/women/life/run…
