As you are aware, our Supreme Leader was on Facebook Live answering some questions last night. Low and behold our ATRF pension plan came up.

His comments were along the lines of "we were just doing our fiduciary duty" in ordering ATRF to exclusively use AIMCo as an investment manager. To be clear it is the ATRF Board that has a fiduciary duty here not the GOA. Can I get another material misstatement up in here?

He then repeats the "doing this to save teachers money" canard.

Well, based on a business case written by AIMCo (conflict of interest) that no Chartered Financial Analysis would sign. (I want to stake my charter on that piece of work!) #save500eachjustlikeralphbucks

The cost savings estimate of 25 basis points just appears out of thin air in the business case with no attribution of the source of said savings. No acknowledgment that ATRF investment costs are positioned to decrease to be 3 basis points above LAPP's investment costs.

But then, JK starts going as rogue as a Trump press conference outside a chopper. He takes this moment to remind viewers that GOA appoints half the ATRF Board and that the Board Chair is elected from the teacher representatives.

This implies, of course, that our Supreme Leader consulted said Board or at least the Board Chair in this decision. He did not consult anyone at any time. #surprise

I am thankful that our Supreme Leader reminded all citizens that good governance processes are in place at ATRF. The problem is that he circumvented those processes by amending the Teachers' Pension Plan Act. #whowasoutofthecountry

He said that on Facebook a couple of hours after Travis engaged in what I will call...#dogwhistlemisogyny

An Order in Council appointed a new GOA member to the ATRF Board. A guy named Rafi Tahmazian

What this has made clear is that two women serving on the ATRF Board will not be renewed for another term. Instead, a pal and employee of W. Brett the #petrosexual in chief, gets paid back with a favor. #cronytimeagain

Now, women have had a long history of being shuffled out of the way so a lesser qualified male can take over, particularly in the finance industry.
I will list the letters that come after the ladies names and the letters that comes after Rafi's name (you guess which are which)

BSc, MBA, BComm, PhD, ICD.D (x2), CPA, CA, CFA, CFP

Yup. Rafi has a BA and is a oil and gas portfolio manager at Canoe.

My opinion: He is replacing a woman with vastly superior skills in order to repay good old #petrosexual W. Brett for his political support and shit tweeting of opponents.

Rafi's skill set isn't even needed by ATRF since they no longer manage investments.

Rafi has other skills though. He has been all over the internet complaining about Rachel Notley. For instance:

I suspected that the whole AIMCO thing was to pay back the good ol' boys at AIMCo. (investment industry folk tend to be strong UCP'ers and donate heavily)
Now, Rafi is the beneficiary of a type of cronyism that has no business being part of modern politics.

Didn't we just see this same thing with a whole bunch of other agencys, boards and commissions?
