The following is my 2 cents on today's escalations in the ongoing World War III (that I first wrote about in 2016 here: contraspin.co.nz/understanding-…)

1. Trump didn't buff up the "defence" budgets so heavily for nothing - these events were planned long, long before the pretext for it
2. It was Iraqis that the US killed last weekend and Iraqis that protested at the Embassy but Trump's team is counting on his base not knowing or caring the difference between Iraqis and Iranians

3. Likewise, a Sunni insurgency & their IED's miraculously became Shi'ite overnight
4. Trump has been window-shopping for wars his entire administration. Maybe North Korea, maybe Iran, back to North Korea again, maybe Venezuela, etc. Whether he does this dance to keep the war hawks off his back or is just probing for the softest target, I don't know.
5. The thesis of "Understanding World War III" (my piece linked in the top of this thread) is that World Wars kick off long before they're declared such, and it's only when an opposing force declares War that the War is officially noted as starting. We're here now, or close to it
6. It'll be when one of the targets finally stands up and says "NO MORE" that the shit will really hit the fan. They generally delay doing so as long as possible. Because war benefits no one, except weapons manufacturers and money men. *Everyone* else loses, for generations.
7. War is of course, a brilliant distraction - a gift to narrative managers. The world's falling apart and even the miniscule existing coverage of it will be knocked off TV screens by any war. Protests ignored. Aussies dying in fires we won't hear about. Julian tortured silently
8. I forget who said, "the US has chosen it's battlefield against Iran, & it's Iraq." Seems a sound analysis to me, and also puts paid to the great lie that there was ever going to be a withdrawal of the US from Iraq. Makes recently abandoned Syrian bases little more than theatre
9. The army of pro-war trollbots unleashed on social media in tandem with Pentagon bulletins speaks to prior-planning. This assassination isn't simply a response to current events. It's merely the kinetic part of a full blown military psyops operation. US citizens are the target.
...as well as the rest of the citizens of much of the rest of the world, whose blood and treasure fuels the combined machine of what the NSA calls the "global network", in support of each global conflict.

10. Resistance to World War III is going to have to come from within that
11. I wrote pre-Snowden that "it is from within the ranks of the system itself that we shall be emancipated". We had a lot of Iraq War whistleblowers, though mostly too late. We need pre-Iran War whistleblowers now, early enough to make a difference. And media to act differently
12. The United Nations, for all its flaws, was founded on a commitment that there never again be allowed a global conflict to sap and steal from generations of global youth/humanity. Have we learned anything from the past 20 years? The past 120? I think we're soon to find out.
13. The above tweet is simply a reminder of a promise made by global diplomats at a single point in history. I'm certainly not claiming they've managed to live up to it (that would be farcical). Just pointing out a stated intention.
