- Fuck Qassem Soleimani and the warmongering he wrought

- Fuck all these men who bring slaughter and violence and misery to millions of people

In #NYC in 2003, I marched in several massive protests against the invasion of #Iraq. I stopped watching US TV news because it was so fucking “our troops” this and nationalist bullshit that. And I went to a concert by #Iraqi singer Kazem al-Saher. washingtonpost.com/archive/opinio…

In the middle of one song, a woman sitting across the aisle asked me to translate a song that was working the audience into a frenzy.

From her accent, I could tell that the woman I was translating for was not a native-English speaker and so I asked her where she was from. I could not have orchestrated her answer better myself.

"I am Iranian. I love Kazem. I have every single one of his CDs. I love him."

My thoughts are with civilians, people who suffer the consequences of the warmongering men.

I deleted my initial tweet to correct Soleimani’s name. I know I will get shit but it won’t be over a mistake on a name. I want you to see those who refuse to understand the fuckery that has long been subjected on the region’s people from multiple sources.

It is not equivocation to say Fuck Trump and Fuck Soleimani and fuck all that they represent.

It is to understand how power and militarism and war are used by these men. And that it is civilians who suffer.

The enemy of my enemy is all too often my enemy. Not my friend.
