In 2009 Beck turned a book called "The 5000 Year Leap" into a bestseller amongst the Tea Party types. The book by W Cleon Skousen was so far right that his own Mormon Church identified it as coming perilously close to advocating Nazism.
Twitterstorians might find this paragraph from the article interesting in light of what Sean Wilentz has been up to lately in regard to the 1619 Project. After acknowledging the salience of racism re. the Tea Party, he moves on to center what we might call "economic anxiety."
