A President does not need Congress to substantially alter the country. Especially when it's someone like Sanders who openly admits he plans to push major parts of his agenda through with executive actions and doesn't care about Constitutional or democratic norms.
In addition, Sanders has been very open about his desire to eliminate the filibuster and pass major policy reforms with simple majorities. Getting a partisan majority isn't impossible. Even with drastic changes. Just look at how ACA was passed.
Also, if the argument (which is clearly wrong) is that it doesn't matter if Sanders wins because he would be constrained by Congress, why wouldn't that logic apply to Trump and maintaining the status quo?
Lastly, Congress has little influence on foreign policy, where Sanders' views are not as discussed, but a drastic departures from American Presidents of both parties over the last half century. And based on his campaign surrogates, would be influenced by truly awful people.
Also, on the topic of restraint, there is a major difference with Trump: The press actually treats Trump critically and serves as a constant check on him by applying public pressure. Recent history makes me suspect that would not likely be the case with a Sanders Presidency.
One more thing: People arguing Bernie’s policies don’t matter because he will be constrained by Congress should therefore be supporting a R Congress, right?

But most of the ppl arguing that are still supporting Dems down ballot, which makes it clear it’s just an excuse.
