There's still no evidence that, before Feb. 28th or so, there was anyone in the federal government who thought large scale COVID-19 testing might be something we'd want to consider doing.
The FDA hadn't authorized anyone capable of large scale testing to do so until Feb. 29th. And if anyone at the FDA or CDC gave any thought before that as to what supply issues might be a problem, they don't seem to have done a thing about it.
Confronted with a critical shortage of a component necessary for any testing to be done, the CDC's response on how it'll address the problem is: No idea! We're just hoping the private manufacturers will get together and work this issue out amongst themselves somehow. 
'It wasn't until people actually started doing the COVID-19 testing that anyone realized there are multiple steps in the testing process,' is the CDC Director's explanation for why the hell no one figured out this problem sooner.
What a fucking joke. I honestly don't know what's worse: if they're just lying their asses off, or if they really truly never even considered how to do large scale COVID-19 testing.
