\ Every day until March 15, the ninth anniversary of the start of the Syrian upheaval, L'Express wanted to give a voice to the inhabitants of the province of Idleb. Some live in makeshift camps. Others, whose house is still standing,
\ come to the aid, with meager means, of their displaced compatriots. By caring for them, listening to them, or making them laugh. Exhausted, they remain determined to tell their daily suffering. So that we don't forget them. They are "Voices of Idleb".
Marwa, 7 years old
\ "My name is Marwa, I am 7 years old, and I come from Ma'arrat al-Noumane, in the province of Idleb. Before the bombing, my house was magnificent. I took care of my plants and my flowers. I have an older brother, Farid, and three sisters.
\ I used to go to preschool, except on days when planes were bombing: so my mom would teach me at home. I would also play all during the days with my cousin Sidra in my grandfather's house.
\ I was not allowed to go on the street or on the roof of the building because of the bombing. Sometimes at night I Couldn't sleep because of the planes. When it hit near us, we all ran to hide in the cellar. Today, I no longer live in Ma'arrat al-Noumane,
\ because of what happened past last year [May 17, 2019]
The planes bombed my city. The shells were falling nearby, I screamed. Then,I saw smoke everywhere. The bedroom where I slept with my cousin Sidra exploded. Someone carried me out of the house,I was in pajamas and barefoot.
\I was very scared and I cried. My cousin Sidra ran down the street. We couldn't see anything in front of us anymore because of the dust. My aunt died that day. I only had a few injuries. My mom and my brother Farid had a lot of trouble finding accommodation in a village,
\ 90 kilometers from where we live, in the north of the province of Idleb. Family and friends brought us furniture because we lost everything when my house exploded. I couldn't even get my clothes or my toys back.
\ I know that hundreds of thousands of children have had to leave their homes because of the shelling. Sometimes I go with my family to see those who live in the camps. In the new city where I live, there are people who sleep in schools, and even on the streets.
\ Farid opened a Twitter account for me and I use it to talk about my childhood life in Idleb. I wake up every morning and draw children who have lost their families or who live in tents. Later, I dream of being a doctor, so that I can take care of people. We suffered a lot,
\ and I don't want to suffer anymore, please. In my new village, it's no longer raining bombs, I can play outside safely. I really hope we can go live in peace with my family in Turkey. "
