1/n At @choosetothinq, been used to #workingfromhome but was NOT prepared to have the kid also ‘working’ from home. Classes on #Skype, school sends stuff to watch, forms/ sheets to upload. And only one laptop to pass around. Here's what I’ve been trying that you could too..
2/n A schedule. Circle time slots when the kids are SURE not to need your device. Evenings, mealtimes, early mornings, sleeptimes. Work uninterrupted during those. Start early & stay a step ahead. Make a timetable that includes their online classes / school work & work around it.
3/n Alternate devices for videos: Use phones, TV, casting devices rather than the laptop for videos. Connect your laptop to a projector / TV / another computer screen if your work allows for a bit of toggling. #kidsathome #WFHTips
4/n Printouts / Screenshots. Set some time to print all sheets the #kids would be needing. Slideshows / reading material can be printed / downloaded digitally to view on a different device. If you don't have a printer, take screenshots & display on an alternate screen.
5/n Live classes: If Skype classes come around, coincide your breaks with them. Make sure you take those breaks - you need them too. #COVID #COVID2019india #kidsathome #WFH
6/n DND Markers! We wear caps when we want to send out the message: Don't talk to me. Alternate markers: earphones. #dnd
7/n Renting/ borrowing: Not everyone has the luxury of an extra device at home. Consider getting a device for this purpose or get the dust off an old device. Turn it into a de facto #Chromebook - you won’t need anything other than a net connection and #Chrome browser to get going
n/n Many won't have the resources/ time to set up all this. So treat it like a vacation problem: dip into games, books, friends and cousins. Turn crisis into opportunity: you don’t want this forced #family time to last forever but cherish it while it does!
