This is what I wrote on “Life post COVID” on my Weibo 10 days ago when most Chinese are back to work

If you want to fast forward and time travel after the quarantine period, here is what I saw

1. Kids will realize classroom lectures is not as useful as they think, it’s not a must have. The unlimited power of self-learning ability is everything

background: Chinese kids have been tutored online for more than 3 months now, exact date for physical school is not set

2. Many office workers will realize endless in person meetings, networking events, and commuting are meaningless waste. The HR system will face a reform

Background: Chinese work environment really emphasizes interpersonal relationship and “bonding”, now it’s hard to implement

3. Job market will hit really hard, much over supply, leading to a explosion of self-employed professionals and new career genre which was not valued before

Background: job stability is considered crucial for most Chinese but when it’s gone, ppl have to self innovate/productive

4. Many countries that rely on the global economy will restart domestic supply chain, less dependent and more resilient in strategic supply become priority, the world will become more decentralized in this senses but will see further rise of protectionism

5. The balance of various economic and political alliances will be out of balance, and the epidemic will become the cause of the political crisis of regional social turmoil

When partners can’t hold accountable to each other in bad times are just “friends with benefits”

6. Globalism and economic growth will be distracted by partisan, popularism, nationalism and other political forces trying to take advantage of this crisis

The tectonic collision of the east and west continent is inevitable, economically, politically and culturally

7. You may be able to finally come to realization of what really matters to you, be totally honest to the world about who you are, who you love and what keep you alive
