The claim that Israel shot demonstrators is a blatant lie. For a peaceful demonstration inside Gaza, Israel would gladly provide water and megaphones. But those were attempts to invade Israeli territory and border communities to indiscriminately slaughter civilians. 1/4
If even one attempt to breach the border fence had succeeded - 1000s would have run in a matter of seconds into our territory and communities to kill and set afire. THAT would have been a carnage, on both sides. 2/4
It is not a guess. Hamas top leader Sinwar said explicitly: “My next demon will be delivered in Nahal Oz. We will tear down the fence and tear off the hearts from the Zionists bodies”. 3/4
We used early warnings (by leaflets, direct phone calls, on radio and social media) and non-lethal means (water cannons, tear gas, smoke grenades, rubber bullets). But in some instances it wasn’t enough to prevent a terrorist invasion. To that scenario we have zero tolerance 4/4
