Let me tell you a story about HD Kumaraswamy & his run up to the #KarnatakaElections2018
This story has its roots in the appalling socialist nightmare called @siddaramaiah's economic policy. It wreaked havoc on farmers in the old Mysore region.
Add drought and dole to this toxic mix. No crop, no income. This led to a massive flight of 20--35 age youth to Bangalore.
They preferred to work as Ola/Uber drivers and bar waiters than as proud farmers. This is the disastrous collateral damage that Siddu's policy caused.
Needless, a majority of these hapless young men were Vokkaligas.
It was this disgruntled constituency that H D Kumaraswamy tapped into. Especially in the last 6 months, these cabbies wholeheartedly said "Kumaranna will be the next CM, you wait & see sir!"
Of course, they were shattered at the drubbing JDS got. The real story begins now.
But the shameless haste with which Kumaraswamy sided with his bete noire, Congress, the sorrow of his cabbie constituency turned to outrage at being betrayed by their "Kumaranna."
Since the evening of 15 May, this group has been very vocal, calling Kumaranna a snake, jackal, 🦊, owl, "third-class nann maga" etc.
One of his campaign rhetoric was his promise to avenge the humiliation that Siddaramaiah had inflicted on the proud Vokkaliga community.
"Now he's sharing the bed with the same Siddaramaiah sir, Modi avaru clean." These guys have "vowed" to "sweep out" the "father-son party" from Hassan itself.
This then is the ground reality. Of course, no media house will tell you this. That's why I always say, be an aware-citizen. Talk to people with genuine feeling. There's immense learning there.
This reality is simply this: several MLAs mostly from JDS want to move to BJP. Lingayat MLAs from Congress are scared of the wrath of their Mathas if they align with JDS.
Most important, NONE of them have the confidence to face fresh polls given how doomed this alliance is.
So my dear friends, don't be taken in by the smoke and mirrors farce that the media and malcontents like Ram Guha, et al are showing you.
