always worth remembering that donald trump’s concept of making america great again involves making everyone in the world but his fervent cultists and foreign despots think america has gone to complete shit
the separation policy as a deterrent literally hinges on the world thinking america is incredibly cruel and no longer worth trying to be a part of
the entire concept is to adjust the cost benefit portfolio to ensure people think our cruelty outstrips our decency
maybe it’s so obvious we just don’t remark on it but this idea is not discussed much
we see it so often we’re desensitized to it but nearly every trump tweet or talking point at a rally pivots on making one central point: america is complete shit
our courts are shit, our laws are shit, our congress is shit, our constitutional order is shit, our sports are shit, our media is shit, our people are shit, it’s all shit
so in a weird and fascinating way there’s almost no one left on the planet who doesn’t think america is shit for one reason or another - his base thinks it’s shit because he tells them nonstop, and everyone else thinks it’s shit because his policies are purposefully antagonistic
this is the strategy nucleus of donald trump: get everyone to think america is shit, with half of them blaming him for it and the other half thinking he’s trying to undo it
