First of all, multi-party systems are the worst kinds of chaotic awfulness. It's often the tyranny of minority.
The far left would be catatonic here because it would be forced to do something it's not good at or prone to, and that's be a part of a coalition.

In a system where no party gets a working majority they have to form coalitions to achieve that, and often can't, forcing another election attempt.
In the end, you still usually end up with two sides to everything the government coalition and the opposition coalition.

Also, in a multi party system minority party members get heard or taken seriously or accomplish anything.
Sanders is a great example. The loner, screaming into the wind who accomplishes zero legislatively.

To get anything they want, they often have to make deals w/ all of the devil's & support truly awful things.
These are the realities of a multi party system whether you want to believe it or not.
