Let me get this straight...
Those behind Brexit screamed about controlling our borders, and now the UK is looking at total chaos because the EU will be doing the same thing?

Because if we leave the Single Market, then UK products no longer benefit from "mutual recognition". That's the rule that means that products from other EU countries are automatically deemed legal if the EU hasn't made a common rule for it.
So UK lorries will need to be checked.
If you ask to have different laws to the EU, and you ask to for the UK to be outside of the market borders of the EU, then this is just what you get.
It's not project fear. It's not punishment. It is the obvious and unavoidable consequence of what we've asked for.

I don't have a party to run / election to win, so maybe it's rich of me to stand on principle; maybe I'm naive, but...
I'm not willing to pretend that a good Brexit deal is possible just because I'm scared people (who I should have won over on Brexit) might think I'm ruining it.
I get why some might choose that due to their own strategic priorities. But if we go down the path of "keep trying Brexit until every last person is convinced it can't work":
a) We risk crashing out.
b) People would blame the EU not Brexit #HowWeGotInThisMess
c) It's dishonest
🔻The Tories want to endanger the Belfast Agreement which the EU won't allow. And even this Brexit will be rejected.
🔻Labour's Brexit must meet the 6 tests. That means Single Market & Customs Union. Parliament would never approve that for the same reasons we're stuck now.

The Holy Bible is made of 66+ books written by different communities with different agendas for different purposes.

It has never said just one thing. What matters is the lens you bring to it. (And we all have a lens — *especially* the people who swear they don’t.)
I get hit for focusing on some things at the exclusion of others.

No shit, Sherlock. It’s utterly impossible to not do that.
But at least I focus on narrative arcs and overall themes in the Bible.

You wanna obsess over John 3:16 and John 14:6 and John 19:11 (for the anti-Semitic Christian) — see a pattern there? — go ahead. But those are single verses plucked for a purpose.

1) Thread - All Brexits are bad and what we voted for
It's often said by brexiters that "it's not all about economics"
However, the *actual* Leave campaign was almost wholly about economic arguments

With the leak of this 2-8% report those arguments are now trashed
2) We seem to have forgotten this however economics played a huge part in the Vote Leave campaign, making up over 2/3rds of the primary arguements. The clear message was we would at the least be no worse off and at best much better off. 4 of the 6 below state this clearly
3) & the fact is voters believed we would be no worse off. People prioritized immigration certainly, but against a backdrop of there being no consequences from Brexit - few are prepared to actually pay for ending FoM
