Mercury Public Affairs, which lobbies for Turkey, disseminated a WaPo op-ed from Atlantic Council fellow Matt Bryza arguing that U.S. is to blame for standoff with Turkey. Mercury hasn't responded to questions about whether involved in placing op-ed. fara.gov/docs/6170-Info…
There's something odd about WaPo's coverage of Turkey issues. They had a news piece last night saying that the Trump admin is "strong arming" Turkey (which is holding an American pastor hostage).
Then there's this full-page ad in WaPo's A section from a pro-Erdogan NGO called the Turkish American Steering Committee. Erdogan's cousin is on the board.
Back to Bryza -- FT reports that he has worked w/ an Erdogan ally. That was not disclosed in the WaPo piece, and neither he nor Atlantic Council have registered under FARA.

If accurate, it's a game changer and would be the strongest evidence yet of collusion between Trump associates and Russia. I will also personally have been very wrong on this particular topic. The main reason to take the report seriously...
...is that McClatchy and the 2 reporters are doubling down on their April 13 report. The story also has specific details about the alleged evidence that has been given to Mueller...Now time for the "but"....

In my interview last night on Fox Business, the host revealed that Jerome Corsi now claims that the doctor from the cancer fundraiser he pushed (Dr. Mendelsohn) was using an alias. dailycaller.com/2018/12/17/ros…
Corsi did not say anything like that when I asked him on Thursday why Dr. Mendelsohn doesn't appear to exist. He did not say that on Fox on Friday when he accused me of getting leaks from Mueller. And the business that the purported cancer patient set up is "Mendelsohn Group."
Corsi claimed that this Dr. Mendelsohn was affiliated with a particular website (phone number for which redirects to the cancer patient's phone and has a prompt for a Dr. Mendelsohn), and the Sourasky Clinic in Tel Aviv. corsination.com/index.php/dr-m…

#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

Some thoughts on this week's WaPo op-ed on welfare reform by @sanfordschram @rfording and @jbsoss . Per usual, let me stipulate that I think welfare reform was a success because it reduced poverty, which is the thing we all profess to care about. /1
There are 6 points the authors make. #1 is that caseload reduction is the wrong metric for success. I agree with that, and most conservative reformers would agree with that too. (I know most of the most prominent ones personally.) But... /2
The authors punt big-time on this when they say that a better metric would be what happened to earnings from employment. I'm not sure they want to go here, but at any rate, they don't. They leave this dangling as if we just don't know the answer. We do. /3

The US-Turkey alliance is rooted in the Truman Doctrine backed by significant US military and development assistance in the late 1940s-1950s designed to keep Turkey out of the Soviet sphere, and enshrined by Turkey joining NATO in 1952 alongside Greece. 2/24
Put crudely, Turkey joined up with the US and NATO because of the centuries-old threat posed by the Russian (then Soviet) military and the need to keep economic and military parity with rival Greece. It wasn't out of admiration or shared values. 3/24
