[THREAD] We are just over three weeks away from Election Day. I’ve said it before, and I still believe it’s true. This election is not about Democrat vs. Republican. It is about the U.S. Constitution vs. @realDonaldTrump's corruption and total disregard for truth and law [1/15]
.@realDonaldTrump idolizes brutal dictators, such as Vladimir Putin and Rodrigo Duterte, even saying he "fell in love" with Kim John-un, yet he has criticized or started trade wars with our closest allies, including Canada, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom [2/15]
.@realDonaldTrump reflexively insults & tries to intimidate anyone who dares to criticize him. He attaches insults and nicknames to people like he's in elementary school: Dumb, weak, stupid, little, dopey, incompetent, loser, lightweight, fool, dishonest, Pocahontas, etc. [3/15]
.@realDonaldTrump even insults his own Cabinet members, like John Kelly, Jeff Sessions, and H.R. McMaster, and attacks his own agencies, especially the DOJ. He consistently sides with foreign dictators, including Putin and Kim Jong-un, over his own Intelligence Community [4/15]
.@realDonaldTrump has been brazenly ignoring separation of powers, threatening legislators, insulting and verbally attacking judges and courts that rule against him, and trying to openly direct and influence law enforcement investigations [5/15]
.@realDonaldTrump has repeatedly & openly attempted to obstruct justice by trying to intimidate DOJ into stopping the investigations into him, threatening to fire those over the investigations, firing the Director of the FBI over the investigation, & threatening witnesses [6/15]
.@realDonaldTrump has consistently & vigorously attacked the First Amendment, calling the press "fake news," "totally dishonest," & "the enemy of the people," admitting he does it to discredit them, and threatened to revoke press credentials from reporters critical of him [7/15]
.@realDonaldTrump may not be running in this election, but this election is 100% about whether America will accept and support a man who is attacking the Constitution, our laws, and our democratic institutions. Every politician who continues to support Trump is complicit [8/15]
I am not going to tell you to vote for a party. My objections are not partisan. There is not a single party with which I agree about all issues. My objections are legal, Constitutional, & ethical. Any person of *any* party who supports @realDonaldTrump should be rejected [9/15]
This really does need to be a time of #CountryOverParty, and we need to do everything we can to get our friends, family, and neighbors out to vote. Many people fully intend to, then their hectic lives overtake them and they don't manage it. Here are a few things I'd ask [10/15]
Please plan out *now* when you will go to the polling station. Don't leave it until that day to figure it out. Look up the location of your polling place to confirm. Decide if you will go before work, after work, after dropping kids off. Will you take kids with you? [11/15]
If you know exactly what you will do before Tuesday, you are more likely to follow through. Then, ask your friends and family what their plans are. Tell them yours, and prompt them to think about theirs. Post on Twitter & Facebook. Encourage everyone to plan now [12/15]
If you have friends, family, or neighbors who don't know when or how they will get to the polling place, please offer to help them get there. We all need to do what we can to get every voice heard. This is too important to sit out [13/15]
We have to get people in office who will push back on @realDonaldTrump's abuses of power, who will speak up and stand up when he attacks our laws, our Constitution, and our democratic institutions, and who will prioritize those over their fear of Trump [14/15]
Finally, once reins are placed on @realDonaldTrump & checks & balances are back in place, we have to reject Trump's brand of divisiveness & attack-at-all-costs politics. Compromise & negotiation have to be lifted up as ideals again, so we can heal the rifts Trump has caused [end]
