(2) That's the main US/European rationale for being allies with Ukraine but, at its heart, this now 5-year conflict is about human rights.
Not UN-style human rights, which is merely a buzzword term selectively applied to suit it's socialist agenda.

(3) Americans & her allies made massive sacrifices to win WWI, WWII, & the first stage of the Cold War (1945-1991.)
We've been fighting the second stage of the Cold War since 1991.
In that year we welcomed the many former Soviet republics into the community of nations.

(4) For the most part, the East Euro/Central Asian "buffer states," weary from the abuses of Soviet communism, still embrace the USA, & the support that comes from long term partnerships. For example, Lithuania, Georgia & Kazakhstan have achieved great things for their people.
(5) I think we will soon see what Ukrainian defense against Russia looks like with a US President in office who gives a damn what happens to those who live in the region.

(6) No doubt President Trump and/or Sec Pompeo will make a statement of some kind on the latest developments in Ukraine, hopefully today. The US Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations said this:
