Flynn’s sentencing memo was pretty clearly calculated to provoke this response. Don’t directly claim you were set up, but name drop Strzok & McCabe, while everone else is just “an FBI agent”... It’s a nicely done bit of needle-threading.
He can’t directly say “oh I was tricked” or “it was just a memory lapse” because he’s pleading to wilfully lying & supposedly demonstrating he’s remorseful about it. But he makes it real easy for other people to try to say those things
It’s a bit of an odd move, really. The SCO had already recommended no jail time, so I’m not sure what added benefit it yields. Maybe just a parting shot.
