any “left foreign policy” on Venezuela that doesnt lead w/
1) CIA withdrawing from LatAm forever (theyll never be woke, sorry guys)
2) an end to sanctions that are helping starve people
isnt “left” in any meaningful sense its just rebranded liberal imperialism for the Sanders age
An American left, such that it is, needs to first & foremost demand its own govt stop militarizing & meddling in other countries. This is 101 stuff—a rather obvious & basic concept ignored in lieu of moralizing about which regimes targeted by US empire are Good Enough to Defend
People keep telling me there no “Left foreign policy” which really means “we need draft up policy papers for a Warren admin that’s a slightly less evil version of what Obama did but maintains all the core pillars of US empire & capital” which is whatever is but it’s not...”left”.
The most cursory review of US history—even the last 10yrs—from Libya to Syria to Venezuela would suggest the CIA is a force of meddling, regime change & dirty wars, by definition. Why would anyone claiming to be left not call for its abolition? Why is it treated as value neutral?

one would think being caught running fake fake accounts that generated dozens of false news stories would undermine a groups credibility in determining what accounts were & weren't fake but the editorial standards of Russiagate social media stories is basically nonexistent

WaPo report about shutdown's effect on prisons: "meanwhile, few things have changed for prisoners, who continue to receive food and medical care"

what were they supposed to do, starve people in cages? What's the point of continuously pointing this out like some kind of gotcha?
disproportionate focus on prison guards, feds, TSA & other cops is a variation on our media's default troop worship. Meanwhile EPA inspectors and SEC regulators total absence solicits a yawn. Entire native territories are w/o pay, healthcare & snowed in solicits a bigger yawn.
please god stop doing this. Federal prisoners get paid as low as 23 cents an hour &, you know, live in cages. Stop using prisoners being paid slave wages as some gotcha on not paying guards who, you know, have their freedom & get 100% of their backpay when the “shutdown” is over

So why would you believe what they're saying about Venezuela?
Venezuela is in crisis. But like the run-up to Vietnam, Iraq, Libya and so many other bloody US foreign policy disasters, we're being bombarded with a one-sided, simplistic, often false narrative. No one claims Venezuela is a threat to us... but they do have LOTS of oil.
Chickenhawks like John Bolton are saying the quiet part out loud on why the ruling class should support the Venezuela coup: “It will make a big difference to the US economically if we could have American oil companies really invest in & produce the oil capabilities in Venezuela."

#FDR promoted the idea that the people of the world, in all nations, shared entitlement to four freedoms: that of the freedom of speech and expression, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear.
#FDR is arguably one of the most 'successful' #US Presidents. Some would argue that on the basis of his numerous social policies such as 'the New Deal'. Others, however, would argue that his role during the second world war was more prevalent to his success & everlasting legacy.
