When a fauxgressive insists "every advanced country in the world has a single-payer universal healthcare plan", he may not realize he's lying.

Let's look at the facts. Center for American Progress has a quick guide as part of this article:
1/8
americanprogress.org/issues/healthc…
"In England, the National Health Service owns and runs hospitals and employs or contracts with physicians."

I suppose that's as close as anyone gets to universal single-payer. So that's one (1).

2/8
"In Denmark, regions own and run hospitals, but reimburse private physicians and charge substantial coinsurance for dental care and outpatient drugs."

Not single-payer, and with "substantial coinsurance" for certain medical necessities, so not zero-out-of-pocket either.

3/8
"In Canada, each province and territory runs a public insurance plan, which most Canadians supplement with private insurance for benefits that are not covered, such as prescription drugs or vision and dental care."

Not single-payer--and requiring "private insurance"

4/8
"In Germany, more than 100 nonprofit insurers, known as “sickness funds,” are payers regulated by a global budget, and about 10 percent of Germans buy private insurance, including from for-profit insurers."

Again, not single-payer.

5/8
But note, even without these being single -payer. "In developed countries, health systems that guarantee universal coverage have many variations—no two countries take the exact same approach."

The public-private partnerships work.

6/8
The fauxgressive purity test of the ethereal universal single-payer Medicare for All which nobody pays for and requires zero out-of-pocket (and which, by the way, is nothing at all like Medicare) is NOT what most of the developed world has.

7/8
What most of the developed world has looks a lot like Obamacare, with a public option somewhere between Medicare and Medicaid.

Fauxgressives are not trying to move America forward. They're simply trying to destroy the Democratic Party with deceitful purity tests.

8/8
PS IF you want a proposal for a REAL and workable system that would guarantee universal healthcare for all Americans, based on what works throughout the advanced world, read all of this article:
