Vote on Wollaston referendum amendment now - will not pass, Labour pro referendum voices pointing out that if it did it would knock out ability to pass the Benn amendment - votes unlikely to get into triple figures....
Labour making a display of their abstention on the Wollaston referendum amendment:
... Conservative whipping email via @breeallegretti

Vote against all amendments.
Vote against main motion if amended.

Free vote on main motion if unamended.
Wollaston amendment on referendum defeated 334-85 as Labour mainly abstain, but would have lost anyway
Benn amendment , with no end date for extension will now be close - it hands over next Wednesday to backbenchers to arrange indicative votes...
If passed the Benn amendment is an extraordinary constitutional development - may prove a step too far after Lidington offered slightly later process for indicative votes if PM deal rejected again
Benn amendment

AYES - 312

NOES - 314

Another GOVT WIN JUST

Government maintains control of Commons agenda next Wednesday AND its caveats on length of extension and need for extra Meaningful Vote before extension.
Tiny victory here on Benn means PM might feel able to announce another meaningful vote for next week, as motion now refers to to an MV passing before Wednesday
Commons now on main motion unamended:

Free Vote for Cons - but heading for a pass.

A very big deal - Brexit doesn’t happen on March 29th as Govt policy if this passes.

Either June 30 with meaningful vote passing by next Wednesday

Or later/not, with indicative votes/ EP elex
If this vote passes now - it is no longer Government policy for Brexit to occur on March 29th...
412-202 for motion.

Thumping victory for seeking an extension to Article 50.

Brexit on March 29th now not Government policy...
BUT the vote lists are very important tonight - seems to be likely that this was passed on Opposition Votes, against members of the actual Cabinet - an amazing situation...

And the Cooper Boles plan only defeated by two - will be back for the meaningful vote
Wow. PM backs extension - but won on Opposition votes - opposed by 60% of her own party MPs and several of her own Cabinet - including her Brexit and Trade Secretaries

Unprecedented situation.
188 Conservative MPs including many ministers voted against seeking A50 extension
Brexit Secretary did not back what is now Government policy to seek an extension - Voted against it alongside 7 other Cabinet ministers.
How about this?

14/2 Amendment on seeking a 3 month extension to Article 50 from @IanBlackfordMP - Defeated by 222

14/3 exactly one month later

Seeking extension to Article 50 for three months - Wins by 211
On this basis there is hope for currently roundly defeated prospects - such as the Malthouse compromise, a second referendum - almost anything really - all by April 14th.
