This is fucking depressing for so many reasons.
The Leave figures are a fucking disaster, but the Remain figures are also terrible.
Truly depressing to realise that a great big slice of the country thinks people like me aren't truly British because one of our parents had the temerity to be born outside the UK.
So to those who answered anything other than 'not at all important', I can duly reply: go fuck yourself, you sad-sack microdick bores.
So bored of making excuses for the racist slush that ebbs and flows around political debate in this country. Degenerate bullshit.
We'll address legitimate concerns around democratic control and resource distribution where we find them. But we need to do a damn sight better at calling out racism where we find it too.

Is there anyone in the Tory party who isn't running for the leadership?
Did a list the other day trying to work out which way they were likely to break on Brexit if they were leader. Most would end up in same position as May: Unwilling to go softer, unable to do no-deal, stuck in same position.
Only Rory Stewart and Amber Rudd would go for Soft Brexit I think, and even then very uncertain.

This is the dank hypocrisy at the heat of the Brexit party. They claim to stand for democracy, but their entire approach undermines democracy.
What will the Brexit party do if elected? We don't know, because they won't tell us. What are their policies? We don't know. How can we assess their performance if elected? We can't. There is no basis there to exercise individual judgement.

Fucking hell. I'm having to go through a bunch of Farage Brexit party speeches for a piece. And there is seriously nothing more tedious than the way he talks about beer.
It's such backpatty twathappy tedium. Yes mate. You drink beer. Congratulation. It is really not that funny.

2/ In 1973, world GDP was $27.77tn, and in 2015, $108.12tn. So the EU's share of world GDP was $10.55tn in 1973, and $17.30tn in 2015. Percentages, in this argument, mean little.
3/ But these *arguments* (sic) are used frequently by No-Dealers. Remember the line: "We buy more from the EU than they buy from us"? Well, so what? I buy more from Aldi than Aldi buys from me... It doesn't mean I've got them over a barrel because they can't afford to lose me.

I actually have his book on the desk behind me. Much like Machiavelli's The Prince, it's a manual on how to be a complete and utter bastard (and win). Many of the chapters point to why Leave won, others to why Remain lost. Based on its content, #FBPE need to get its hands dirty.
The article is very different, and it's Leavers that are the narcissists - they hold a belief in something and won't accept being called up on it, deny any facts they're shown as fake news and propaganda, while never questioning their own sources.
I have #FBPE in my bio, and it's because I value Freedom of Movement. I have benefited from it, as have my friends and family. I want to keep it, I want my fellow UK citizens to keep it, and I want EU residents in the UK to keep it too.

A say in whether the EU enlarges or not.
A say in if the EU federalises or remains a union of independent states.
A say in if there is an EU army.
Being the financial capital through which the majority of € is traded while still keeping the £.

The UK has taken the lead in efforts for EU enlargement. It pushed for the inclusion of Eastern European states. It pushed for Turkey to get its shit together so that it could join (which it made very slow progress with, and has largely been undone by Erdogan)
After #Brexit, the UK will have no influence on EU enlargement. In fact, as setting the EU as a rival, every country that joins the EU will a) strengthen the EU, and b) unravels any trade deals that the UK will have made with that country, isolating it further.

Let's dive in...
I want to make a few things clear, though.

First, I don't think alcohol is inherently, irredeemably bad. That said, I have been raised in several alcohol-happy nations (France, Belgium, Australia) so I recognise I have bias, here.
Secondly - and I'm sure this is clear from what I said in the former - I enjoy having some drinks to varying degrees in a variety of settings (anything from professional networking to friendly gatherings).
I think it's a fine thing that I like to do.
