I know TV said "calf" and "as far as we know not Achilles" but video has me worried for the worst. Will explain why in an article soon. Hope the limited video lies.
FYI, I think my editor @sdutKevinAcee is on a plme without wifi. I don't even know how to post the article. Sorry.
Ok, will try to post my abbreviated #KD "article" on this thread. Sorry I don't know how to post.
If calf strain, as TV reported, players don't want to stretch the torn muscle by walking flat footed. But when Achilles torn, there is no tension and they do.
#KD turned around as if someone kicked him and grabbed at Achilles. This with non contact injury fits Achilles tear. Also unable to push off.
Eccentric load when it happened with significant dorsiflexion of foot and then unable to push off.
I hope it is just a low grade calf strain. But technically Achilles is part of the calf. No team wants to jump tl3 a negative conclusion. And his family a d teammates deserve to know first before we in the public are told.

Even in best case, calf strains linger, especially in a basketball player. #KD will not be back this series and easily not for playoffs even if Achilles spared.
The best hope for #KD is a plantaris rupture. A small muscle/tendon deep in calf. Much better than Achilles and often quicker return than calf strain. Let's all hope for this.
Love the great news from @wojespn!
Lesson is video of injury (which was limited here) is still vey accurate. Player's reaction to injury (#KD look back) or how they walk off is not as accurate. Happy to take the "L".
