Just got (nicely) scolded by the tree guy.
Tree guy would like us all to know that to ensure a healthy canopy, one can’t just hack back beaches, which, fair.
The truth about tree trimming seems to be if you do it right, it kind of looks like shit for a year, but the tree comes back healthier. 🤞

There is no middle ground that doesn't results in millions or even billions dead or displaced.

And that's just about the humans.
Also even if you're so inclined as to be charitable to positions Biden held in the past and has moved away from, this is about the present, and the future. A future which doesn't stretch out that far for him.
So Biden's folks are pushing back on this story. But I'll stand by "there is no middle ground," because I just don't think even most smart people get what enormous changes we need to make. And the sooner we make them, the less hard and horrible it will be:

The "lock them all up" strategy has been debunked, thankfully. But we haven't really made the turn to what another solution might be. Likely more harm reduction, more $ to *effective* addiction intervention, cracking down on China over fentanyl imports, supportive housing...
At nearby Walgreens, saw a couple of guys, totally zonked out of their minds, were clearly (and pretty ineptly) trying to shoplift everything. Security and the clerks were just standing by. No point in calling cops or risking themselves. Cops wont show for > $5K. Not great.

$tsla A thought on margin loans. In 2002, my Private Banking team had a $50 mil loan against a concentrated stock position for a family that controlled the entire company. (Supervoting shares) Insiders and institutions owned 90% of the co. we were just one of many banks 1/
providing capital to the family, that they were then using to acquire all sorts of largesse...golf courses, resorts, planes, more stock in the co, etc. The effort was coordinated with the investment bankers (not the analysts) and the loan was thought to be a seat at the table 2/
for subsequent corporate business. As the telco debt crisis boiled over, there were daily calls with the IB to do everything possible to avoid a margin call. Can they send in cash? What do earnings look like? Anything that would keep the risk dept $tsla 3/

It's not every day I take a stand a political issue. In reality, just a computer guy who started a Social Network during the com internet boom. Don't know much about politics, despite having spent years around political figures. Spoke up when it seemed like the right thing to do.
So far, there's one thing I've spoken out about, definitively. That is the increasing influence on the U.S. Democratic Party by the Mexican PRI political party. I spoke out about it because I know it's true, it's not understood by Americans, and it's completely wrong. #TRUTH
