Maybe eventually the "left" media will realize that their hyper-focus on a nonexistent "Nazi" threat actually encouraged a conservative tendency in the electorate, because Dems now want the "safest" candidate who can defeat Nazi-enabling Trump, and into that void steps Joe Biden
That's why Biden keeps talking about Charlottesville, both in his launch video and subsequently. It creates a convenient dichotomy: Nazis vs. everyone else. If there are Nazis to defeat, intra-party disputes don't matter -- all good and moral people must unite against the Nazis
So, good job everyone who radically inflated the significance of that one-off event in August 2017, because it's influencing the conditions by which Biden can feasibly present himself as a desirable alternative, and cast internal Democratic Party debates as counter-productive

My working theory for why people across the political spectrum invariably react to this argument with blithering, sputtering rage is because on some level they know it's true and won't admit it to themselves
The hyper-emotionalism with which people invariably react to this argument -- screaming that I'm personally a Nazi and/or a supporter of jihadists -- reflects why the wider discussion around these issues is so blinkered and irrational
A lot of this derives from the inability of people to accept that sporadic acts of violence are commonplace throughout US history, and they'll inevitably continue

Every time I say this, "both sides" freak out but it doesn't make it any less true: Liberals and leftists who fixate endlessly on an exaggerated threat of "Nazis" are the mirror image of right-wingers who fixate endlessly on the exaggerated threat of "Radical Islamic Terror"
Yeah, I'm aware that one person died in Charlottesville in August 2017. Two months later, eight people died in Manhattan as a result of a "radical Islamic terror" attack. Inflating the threat posed by EITHER phenomenon because it flatters your sense of moral grandiosity is inane
And again, clearly radical Islamism is a serious threat in places like Syria, and the same can be said for Nazis in Ukraine. But what happens in the US, at a time of unprecedented society-wide safety, is that moralizing political actors inflate threats when it suits their agenda

Regularizing my sleep habits has made all the difference in the world for me. When my sleep habits become irregular, it's terrible. No surprise that disrupted or inconsistent sleep patterns highly correlate with many psychological and cognitive problems
One of my pet issues is demanding that schools open later. I see no reason why school can't begin at 10 or 11am and end at 4 or 5pm. I know I was inhibited from learning adequately due to being exhausted by getting to school at 7:15. Many others had the same experience
Kids are resistant to going to bed early, and resistant to waking up early. So why not accomodate their natural sleep tendencies to some marginally greater extent. You will probably see an improvement in behavioral outcomes

Beginning to think the CW that "Joe Biden would be such a great general election candidate for Dems if only he could make it past the primaries" might actually have it a bit backwards.
Right now, Biden is the best-positioned candidate in a field of record-breaking size to hit 15% thresholds virtually *everywhere,* which is a really underrated advantage when it comes to building a delegate lead.
He's also got a considerable regional head start in the South, thanks to his huge early advantage with African-American voters (name ID + Obama nostalgia) & because there are no candidates from the region (unless you count TX).

Most of the abuses that this sector of media is critical about come from internet giants, who pay lip service in response, because those abuses are very profitable, & regulation is unlikely in the US & users not motivated enough to change their usage of networks. /2
US regulation that would help stop the criticized practices is unlikely to help, mainly because Congress isn't qualified to design these regulations, so they would leave it to lobbyists working for the industry to be regulated /3

There are a lot of prominent people, who claim to be principled anti-war activists, who led us to believe that Hillary was the *real* threat, that should be absolutely ashamed to show their faces right now. Yet they're all pretending like it never happened.
None of this is surprising if you were paying attention & weren't looking to confirm your biases that #actually Trump might not be so bad (not as bad as Killary). Most of us saw the threat in real time & called it out. It wasn't subtle.
It's just so incredibly frustrating bc it was all so predictable. You demanded that every journalist & pundit who predicted the election results incorrectly be disgraced; yet this was infinitely more consequential. And yet, you've taken zero responsibility for your actions.
