Photo Thread: the "Heroes Holiday" in Chicago led by the "Greywolves Company," established in 2011, the first Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) reenactment group in the United States. @I_Katchanovski approximated that ~70% of the leadership of UPA collaborated with Nazis during WW2.
In 2012, several months before his neo-Nazi Svoboda party did infamously well in Ukraine's parliamentary elections, Oleh Tyahnybok attended the "Heroes Holiday" in Chicago, sponsored by the Ukrainian-American "Orange Wave," which is affiliated with the "Greywolves Company".
A clear example of how the glorification of Ukraine's Nazi collaborators in the United States can lend itself to US American support for neo-Nazis in Ukraine... Pictured below, Svoboda reps at the Chicago "Heroes' Holiday," again, in 2013... to return in 2014-16 if not 2017-19...
The 2014 "Heroes' Holiday" in Chicago, a few months after the conclusion of the Euromaidan "revolution" in Kyiv, appears to have been the most intense yet, with new martyrs to celebrate from the Maidan and the war in Donbas. The "Graywolves" UPA cosplayers made a strong showing.
More photos from the 2014 "Heroes' Holiday" in Chicago, where the neo-Nazi Svoboda Party appeared once again... this time with hardened Maidan protesters, possibly Ukrainian-Americans in costume... all of them waving the red-and-black of the UPA (appropriated by Right Sector)...
Pictured below in 2014, the "Heroes' Holiday" ceremony at the St. Nicholas Cathedral School in the Ukrainian East Village of Chicago—after a march glorifying the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which collaborated with the Nazis, hunted Jews, and waged ethnic cleansing against Poles.
Volodymyr Viatrovych, "The Historian Whitewashing Ukraine's Past," appeared at the 2016 "Heroes Holiday" in Chicago a year after attending the "Heroes Holiday" in Ellenville, NY. Here he is with Greywolves commander Yuriy Soroka—a FB friend—at the march.
