The London Mayor's attack on Pres. Trump and Trump's response is not without precedent. London Mayor Ken Livingstone in May 2003 said about Pres. Bush, "I think George Bush is the most corrupt president since Harding in the twenties. He is not the legitimate president."
When the WH press corps asked me about it I said, ""First of all, I've never heard of the fellow. Second, I'm not going to dignify it with a response." I think I hurt his feelings when I said I never heard of him.
In both instances, the fault doesn't lie with the American president. It lies with left-wing mayors playing to their left-wing bases. This is about British domestic politics.
