I'm excited to attend the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 at @JFKLibrary in Boston next week. We're planning for Gigi to come, too, although cancer treatments, etc., make it hard. I feel a deep need to go to this event because... /1
2/...my dad was very proud of his role working on the Apollo 11 mission as a ground systems tech at @NASAKennedy, and he insisted I study engineering because he wanted me to be a NASA engineer (which I was, for many years before transitioning to planetary science), and...
3/...if he were here to continue guiding me, he would INSIST I go to the event at any cost. This thought brings tears to my eyes, so I will attend on behalf of my dad, to celebrate the Moon landing he and the many thousands of men and women accomplished on behalf of humanity...
4/ We will be trying this week to make a way for Gigi to be there despite the challenges with cancer, etc. We aren't sure she can, but we RSVP'd for her to attend. She is planning to run the Boston Marathon in April,...
5/...and she is trying to recover her ability to run after finishing chemotherapy. Since the @JFKLibrary is in Boston where the Marathon will be held, I hope we can scout the course and do some planning.
