THREAD: I don’t usually address the immigration issue bc it is one that is very nuanced & complex, & bc I spend most of my time on the greatest human rights crisis –abortion, which yearly hurts nearly 2M women & men & kills nearly 1M children. But feel that I have to speak out.

2/ When I see politicians like @AOC calling detention centers “concentration camps,” I get angry. These are the same politicians who defend the death centers that are abortion facilities: facilities designed to destroy innocent human lives taken there without their consent.

3/ I wish our immigration system was reformed. I’ve criticized the Trump admin’s family separation actions. I wish there were never border deaths & that we could welcome every immigrant, seeking refuge or work. I believe we can & should increase refugee quotas.

4/ All that said. Immigrants in detention centers weren’t uprooted from their homes & sent here by U.S. force, NOR are they forced to stay by U.S. force. They wait in detention bc they hope to access the United States, but they are free to leave the US if they choose.

5/ If asylum status is denied, the USA pays for travel back to their country.
To compare their struggle to the sheer horror & captivity of Jews, the disabled, Soviet dissidents, & others CAPTURED, SENT BY FORCE, & THEN EXECUTED in real concentration camps is disgusting & wrong.

6/ It’s disgusting because it compares ICE workers - your fellow Americans attempting to do their jobs to enforce our laws, laws which YOUR democratically elected representatives put in place - to the evil Gestapo.

7/ It’s disgusting because it callously downplays the last century’s unspeakable genocides, & ignores America's greatest legal injustice, which isn’t detention centers, but legal abortion centers.

8/ Shame on the deceptive, dishonest politicians like @AOC who fear-monger & distract from their support of taxpayer funded abortion death facilities with fake narratives like this one.

9/ ACTUALLY FOCUS ON REFORMING OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS (looking at you, Congress!), IMPROVING THE ASYLUM-SEEKING PROCESS, INCREASING REFUGEE QUOTAS & SECURING OUR BORDER. Stop lying.
