The British Government contends that it is perfectly within the GFA to impose automatic British citizenship on NI born Irish citizens because they have the ability in law to renounce British citizenship.

Renouncing requires Irish citizens to declare themselves as British.

We'll be waiting a number of weeks for the decision from the Upper Tribunal but the Home Secretary through one of the most advanced constitutional lawyers in the UK, has stated the Government will immediately appeal any decision in our favour.
