Big news! San Diego - the first big city in the U.S. to pledge to reach 100% renewable energy - just became the largest city in the country to say yes to Community Choice Energy! bit.ly/release91719
The City Council just approved Mayor Faulconer's plan to create a regional joint-powers authority to lower energy costs and help SD reach 100 percent renewable energy by 2035.
Next step? Hiring a board of directors for the JPA and then developing an implementation plan for approval by the California Public Utilities Commission to deliver power as soon as 2021.
Thank you @LaMesaCA, @ThinkChulaVista, @CityofIB, and @EncinitasGov for joining @CityofSanDiego for this historic partnership! Together we will continue the green revolution and protect the environment for future generations.
This is a big moment in our region’s history and it’s due in no small part to the efforts of so many. TY @NCapretz & @SDClimateAction for your advocacy and years of hard work!
