Are people seriously criticizing Kamala for speaking AAVE with Black people? The Hillarification of Kamala is complete. Remember the criticism of Hillary who lived most of her adult life in Arkansas for talking Southern?

Code switching is common. My boss was a Black woman and so was my assistant. They code-switched all the time, sometimes in one conversation, to make a point, to bring it home, so to speak. Saying their point, then hitting it home with the vernacular

Moreover most of us do shift our speech patterns depending on whom we are speaking with. I know that having lived in Oregon for over 25 years, I know longer hae the Scandinavian accent I grew up with and no longer say, "Yah, sure, you betcha"

But five minutes on the phone with my sister-in-law, I am speaking Swengish as though I never left. It is, after all, my natural, not acquired, accent. More than that, I suspect people whose speech is not affected at all by speaking with others. They aren't real listeners.

And of course, the person who is really showing his ass about Kamala's accent is exactly who this is written for.
