Today my 12 year old asked me why people still support trump. I answered that I really didn’t know. Later, while mowing the yard, I thought about it and came up with several reasons.
As I thought about it, I realized that a lot of the reasons sounded like things various characters from the Office would think. Here’s what I came up with:
The Michael Scott… a perfect example of Dunning Kruger in action. Not very intelligent but believes self to be the smartest, most capable person in the room. Level of incompetence matched only by misplaced confidence in own abilities.
The Dwight Schrute… authoritarian, believes everyone should submit to his/her authority without question. Often humorless “Trump is your President”
The Jim Halpert…a person who gets a kick out of making others miserable. Loves watching liberals reaction to trump’s “pranks”. Doesn’t really care whats going on as long as people he/she dislikes are miserable. "I love watching trump make the Libtards cry"
The Pam Beasley…a submissive, doesn’t question authority, does not make waves. Whatever the party says must be followed. "The GOP is my party and I trust them, they know what they are doing"
The Andy Bernard…. A life long loser, sick of always coming out on bottom, wants to be part of winning no matter what personal suffering must be experienced. No self esteem. "trump is winning bigly and Making America Great Again!"
The Creed Bratton… crazy, most probably insane. Has weird ideas not grounded in reality, loves conspiracies. Qanon "Obama and Hillary are being sent to Gitmo by JFK jr. Tick Tock, the storm is coming!!"
The Kevin Malone…. Unintelligent, easily manipulated. Not an independent thinker. "Trump said no collusion...why would he lie?"
The Angela Martin…very religious, wants everyone to follow her version of Christianity, even though she doesn’t. Hypocrite "America is a Christian Nation, abortion is murder, who cares if trump slept with a porn star"
The Ryan Howard… greedy, manipulative. Will do anything/accept anything if it means getting or staying in power. No scruples/zero morality "Who cares if he asked Ukraine for dirt on Biden, he's President. He cna do what he wants!"
The Kelly Kapoor…gets all information from TV, social media, memes. Not knowing anything about a subject will not prevent her discussing it at length "This meme says Nazis are socialists & it has Hitler & talks about Socialism & Socialist is in the name so its true"
The Oscar Nunez… know it all, convinced he knows more about any subject than anyone else, does not like to be corrected "Don't question me that China is not paying the tariffs because the tariffs are on them and America is getting all that money. trump says so"
The Erin Hannon….uneducated, dense. Has no idea what is going on and any attempt to explain it is never understood. "yeah, I don't know what you just said but trump said he didn't withhold money from Ukraine for Biden dirt. He admitted it? No, he didn't do that"
The Phyllis Vance….gossip, indulges in salacious rumors, doesn’t care or even try to verify accuracy. "Hillary has to have Parkinson's because she stumbled that one time and there is no other explanation plus Hannity said she was dying and he's always right"
The Roy Anderson…. Classic bully, sexist, doesn’t care about others. Bigots/racists fall under this "Try n come take my guns snowflake and we're gonna have a Civil War"
The Stanley Hudson… doesn’t care what is going on, doesn’t pay attention., always voted Republican, always will "I don't know what he did with Russia but he's doing a great job. Examples? He's winning!"
The Merideth Palmer…complete disaster of a person. Trash "Grab em' by the pussy! I love it, he's not PC and tells it like it is"
