Trump’s foreign policy (using the word ‘policy’ loosely) is completely warped by his greed and narcissism. We’re the dominant superpower, but he doesn’t think or act like it because personally, he’s not half as rich as Putin or the Saudi royal family.
Trump is weakening American empire, but in a way that cedes power to countries with even less regard for human rights and democracy. This is only good if all you object to is American imperialism, not imperialism in general.
There’s a slice of the left so focused on American imperialism, and Democratic presidents’ participation in it, they keep siding with Trump over Democrats like Obama and Hillary. But to side with Trump is to side with corruption, dictators and mercenaries.
