Corbyn expected to set out a bit more of process for his departure a bit later this morning, he doesn't intend to resign + plans to stay in place until leadership contest can be held which realistically may not mean a new Labour leader until April
But... NEC does have the power to decide to appoint an interim leader IF he changed his mind and resigned, and there is already pressure for him to do so, or an MP could try to gather support for a leadership challenge
Worth remembering in all of this, Corbyn supporters control the party machine at the moment and won't give that up without a fight - but they don't have an obvious candidate, especially as Laura Pidcock who some of them saw as successor lost her seat
