Today, I heard about an amazing Muslim sister, amazingly intelligent, expert in Artificial Intelligence (Ph.D.) who got an offer to work in a European country, but was informed before hand that she has to drop her head headcover (what today we see as Hijaab). 
She chose to keep her faith, her Islamic identity & to please her Lord than accept the offer. As usual, so many myopic people faulted her decisions, including some of her family members. She was unmoved, unbothered & wallahi very happy with her decision, subhanallah!
You see, nothing in this world is worth your faith brother/sister. What do you gain if you drop your faith, make the money then die & go to hell for deliberately choosing to disobey your Lord? This reminds me about our undergraduate days. Anytime I go out for the compulsory
prayer when a lecture is still on, even some Muslims see it as "going extreme". I remember a lady (now I heard she is dead) threatened to fail me in her USE OF ENGLISH course because when we asked her to change the lecture hours from prayers time she refused, & I promised never
to attend the class again. I never did & I passed with an 'A'. Another Engineer from Electrical Engineering (a course I took from another dept) threatened me as well, but I felt very comfortable with that, knowing that he can't do what Allaah didn't do for me. I also passed.
All in all, there is nothing as valuable as this faith we have. Holding it firm is never too much. We are not even doing 1/100 of what is expected of us in obedience to Allaah, yet some people want us to drop that. If we are to follow their heart desires, they'd wish we drop
the entire Islaam & be like them. May Allaah see the little we are able to hold on, accept it from us & grant us His mercy for it.
