.@RepValDemings begins with Trump's clearest abuse of power, the one that, as GAO recently announced, is illegal on its own: Withholding almost $400 million in aid to force Ukraine to do what he wanted.
@RepValDemings Trump didn't withhold aid from Ukraine in 2017 or 2018, when Poroshenko—the president under whom the corruption he supposedly wanted to root out took place—was still in office.
But he held it in 2019.
Why?
Because that's when the investigations he wanted would actually help him.
@RepValDemings *Trump himself* signed the bill in November 2019 authorizing the aid he later withheld, without ever raising concerns about corruption.
We all know what changed over those next few months that made him suddenly decide to freeze it.
