@DPJHodges Just read your piece.

Difficult to cut thru all YOUR hate, scorn & vitriol, but I discern the kernel of an idea — that people want to be respected & *feel* Remainers don't.

That's actually a fair point, but don't you think you'd convey it better if you didn't hate-coat it?
@DPJHodges Is it actually *true* Remainers don't respect Leavers, or is it just folk like you putting that narrative out there?

a) you prime your readers' reaction by starting with the word *bitter* & using a string of pejoratives (As BITTER REMOANERS RANT... FRUITCAKES & LOONIES)

/cont.
@DPJHodges Was Campbell being "bitter" when he mocked a 50p coin? Or was he merely thinking, like millions of us, that the inscription felt rather at odds with "17 million F*** Offs" proponents of the #Brexit ideology pride themselves on giving to the EU?

Was that just you editorialising?
@DPJHodges b) praise for a facile gesture

I thanked Steve Baker for his tact on #BrexitDay, but someone doesn't occupy the moral high ground just by uttering the word *reconciliation*, esp. when that someone condoned dubious practices that eventually led to robbing millions of their rights
@DPJHodges When you look at *reconciliation* initiatives around the world, then at the Brexiter demand for reconciliation (for that's all it amounts to - there's no offer), can you spot the missing ingredient?

HINT: #Truth

No truth, no reconciliation. Flowers don't grow without rain.
@DPJHodges You're demanding that we ignore:

-doubted legitimacy of #EUref
-theft of our rights
-upending the lives of #The5Million + others
-cruel & inhuman treatment inflicted on #The5Million as *bargaining chips* of our Govt
-making #The3Million apply to stay in their home

FOR WHAT?
@DPJHodges Journalists like you have been keen to paint Leave voters as victims. There's a false narrative about #Brexit being the cry of the downtrodden working class, when analysis shows the main determinants were educational attainment & age, with the YOUNG WORKING CLASS VOTING to REMAIN
@DPJHodges After the #EUref, #Remainers went quiet. They waited for the Govt to make a proposal that would bring the country together, as Norway had done after their Ref rejecting EU membership 52-48%.

After all, NF showered SO MUCH praise on the Norway model.

The olive branch never came.
@DPJHodges Instead we got the now infamous Lancaster House speech red lines & it became clear: it wasn't #Remainers who lost #EUref —it was the entire country.

Remainers took up the fight again, not just for themselves, but for everyone who stood to lose out in a #DisasterCapitalist Brexit
@DPJHodges You could've been part of that fight to find a better solution, Dan.

You could've helped people understand that the ECHR (& Council of Europe) is not the EU, for example. Or that there are better ways of allaying concerns about immigration than stripping 66m Brits of FoM.
@DPJHodges You could've helped readers hold govt to account & open their eyes to the sinister "boil the 🐸 frog" exercise the govt propaganda machine has unleashed over the past 4yrs.

Instead of childishly dismissing all risks as #ProjectFear, you could've helped readers weigh probability.
@DPJHodges c) you take 1 anecdote from 1 conversation with 1 Leaver, and use it to cast aspersions ALL Remainers.

I'd like to believe things could've been different if Leavers felt Remainers *respected* them, but there was fat chance of that with the press whipping up division.
@DPJHodges Too often pundits have failed to point out straw man arguments that fog issues.

I saw Barry Sheerman on a TV show accused of calling Leavers stupid -which he didn't do at all- cos he referenced recent research that level of education was the N°1 factor determining how we voted.
@DPJHodges In this piece you're been guilty of layering on your own malice.

Example: you saying Adonis doesn't mean what he says, he means what you say, and what you say is that he disrespects Leavers!

I've met him. He's clear that Brexiter leaders bear responsibility for this, not voters
@DPJHodges So, you've chosen *your side*.

It's clear you're part of a *Brexit Battalion Media Corps Op* to get the *displacement blame game* going early & fix a hatred-target on Remainers' backs, even tho' the design & execution of #Brexit rests entirely in Johnson's unfettered hands.
@DPJHodges The Op has 2 contradictory facets:
1) Whip up hatred vs Remainers & blame them for future #Brexit difficulties, failings & hardship.
2) Pretend there's no #Transition, so absence of bad consequences NOW means Remainers were wrong.

You, Kirkup, Hannan, Carswell, Eddie Hughes, etc
@DPJHodges Would that you had chosen the path less trod and followed the example of Peter Oborne.

He's got his honour and integrity intact.

You've got your thirty pieces of silver.
