While I don't want to sound defeatist, if Republican Senators don't object to President Trump wielding the DOJ as a weapon against his enemies & a shield to protect his allies, there's nothing that can stop him from doing so.

And there's no sign that Republican Senators object.
Senator Scott, can you tell us your position on President Trump's decision to have the DOJ open inquiries into his political rival Joe Biden and to protect Roger Stone, who was convicted of obstructing the investigation into Trump's collusion in 2016?
The President has claimed an "absolute right" to direct the DOJ on how to handle the prosecution of his allies.

He's wrong about having an absolute right to do so. But as long as Senate GOP doesn't object (they don't) he does have the absolute ability.
