I am at loss of words.

Many instances of Hindus helping Muslims & vice versa give a ray of hope. But it is equally disturbing that we get impressed by & HAVE to share such acts of brotherhood even after 75 yrs of independence. 2/n

Have Hindus been violent? Yes, innumerable times, and still are. In fact, as of now they are the most violent.

So when in India, at present, Hindus are being violent, is it okay to invoke the violence of other religions as well to say things like “every story has two sides"5/n

"not all Hindus” “other religions are also violent” “it’s a reaction to earlier actions”? The answer is a big resounding NO.

Why? Because this violence is state sponsored and the state is unabashedly Hindu and they have been spewing venom not only against Muslims 6/n

but also against Christians and the members of the DBA Community.

I am not unaware of the fact that the Anti CAA protestors did turn violent in the past few months. But the bigger question is whether they had the support of the state? 7/n

Whether the Police stood by them when they were doing this? Whether the judiciary protected them? Whether the government came to their rescue? We all know the answer.8/n

We all must be clear about one thing that no matter what the system cannot turn against the citizens. NO MATTER WHAT. You can’t justify police brutality over stone pelting. You know why? Because the police is equipped with shields, jackets, guns, tear gas, 9/n

water cannons, lathis and what not. At no point the police can pit itself against protestors. They are acting under oath. They have a responsibility. They are not some random rogue goons who will torture people with vengeance. 10/n

Their duty is to control a violent situation and not add fuel to fire by indulging in violence themselves. They cannot, under any circumstances, wage a war against the citizens.

I have many friends in Pakistan who call out their government on the atrocities being committed on the Hindus there. The citizens need to do that incessantly.15/n

The fear mongering that majority is under threat is largely a bubble and it completely ignores the privilege a member of the majority community enjoys every second of his/her life. 16/n

The Muslims in India are made to do the following in order to prove that they love their country:

1. Condemn every terrorist attack carried out by Islamic extremists all over the world.

2. Explicitly cheer for India in an India Pakistan match. Also their favourite cricketer cannot be a Pakistani. He just cannot.

3. Be answerable to every act of crime by Muslims in India. However petty that crime might be.18/n

4. Be embarrassed about their religion and always identify themselves as an Indian first and then a Muslim.

This list isn’t exhaustive. I can never make an exhaustive list. Because I enjoy all the privileges.

You say that the there are Muslim ghettos where non Muslim people aren’t allowed to live. First of all, just take a walk around those ghettos and try to understand why they got created in the first place.29/n

The answer lies in the owner list of your apartment. How many of you have Muslim neighbours? Have they been welcomed with open arms to live in your gated societies? Muslims in Mumbai and other cities still find it extremely difficuly to rent a flat or purchase one.30/n

When you corner them, when you discriminate them, what will they do? They seek support and they get it from their own community members and that is why these ghettos are created. And you want to penetrate that as well? Why? Don’t you have enough already?

If this wasn’t enough, you are planning to strip them of their very Indiannnes you ask them to prove at every juncture. And then when they protest against this you call them traitors? Why?34/n

Aren’t they protesting because they are Indians? Because they consider this their motherland and do not want to leave it. Then how have they become traitors? Why shall they need to prove their citizenship but your kid who studies in US shall not. 35/n

Who went for better opportunities and who is toiling here?

And now you all are reveling in the fact that Muslim houses are being burned, their shops are being looted, their women are being threatened with rape. Is any of your kid involved in this? 36/n

Why didn’t you send your own kid to ransack a few shops? Your bourgeois ass likes to just enjoy the view from far while families are being killed. You don’t want your kid to get involved in this because ofcourse his future in some esteemed university will be at stake. 37/n

But why do you worry? His Hindu name will save him from everything. Nobody will suspect that he was involved in terrorist activities. That is called privilege.38/n
