Becuase NAFTA encourages companies to outsource production to low-wage countries, it helped businesses at the expense of workers in the United States. It also did not provide enough protection against the exploitation of workers and the environment.

Trump defined Hillary as a candidate of entrenched interests who used a her career in politics for familial gain. He highlighted Clinton’s support for NAFTA and TPP. Obama identified the same issue in debate w/ Clinton in 2008.

As of 2019, Delaware has lost 17,351 of its manufacturing jobs -- almost two in five -- since the 1994 NAFTA agreement went into effect.
