Short Thread

a/ One of the big things I'll try to do is make scientific literature easily accessible so more people get informed on #COVID19.

Every one matters. We're in this together.

Here is your assigned reading for tonight:
1/ The @CDCgov mitigation guidelines for preventing pandemic influenza are important.

They discuss many key mitigation measures w/ excellent citations to which studies proved these actually work.

Read this.

All of it.

#flatteningthecurve
cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/6…
2/ "R0"- the basic reproduction # (how many cases one case creates on avg in a susceptible population)

"R0 is a function of human social behavior + innate biological characteristics of particular pathogens"

More important complexities in the paper.

wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/25…
3/
Once you have read both of those, read this.

It's a recent @TheLancet commentary tying in some of these important concepts to #COVID19.

Possible outbreak scenarios. Why social distancing is key. How "experts" are thinking about this.

thelancet.com/journals/lance…
4/ Lastly, after you have read all of that-- the @CDCgov just put out new mitigation guidelines for communities I believe today.

Many of us in high level strategy are reading this/ thinking about it/ asking questions about it etc.

You can too.

cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…
5/ I think a lot of people who have fancy degrees/diplomas etc underestimate what "average" "regular" "non expert" people are capable of learning/doing/leading when they really need to.

#COVID19 is unprecedented.

We need everyone to be as informed as possible.
