Bernie under-performed from the outset. Over 5yrs he made no outreach beyond his 2016 ceiling. He lost IA to newcomer Buttigieg; squeaked a 1pt win in NH; barely won NV, got slammed in SC; lost 11 races on Super Tues. Exits showed most voters wanted Bernie policy but 🚫 Bernie.
What's hardest for Bernie supporters to grasp is how poor a messenger Bernie is for his message. Bernie should've stayed out and endorsed Warren if he was actually invested in progressive policy v winning. Few really want Biden, but Bernie's inability to form coalitions sunk him.
The lack of transparency as well as flip-flopping on promises plus the abusive staff and supporters turned many potential voters away. Some former Berners went directly to Warren, some chose other candidates. But Bernie still missed what was wrong. And now we are here. Sigh.
Also, Bernie said of Clyburn that they had nothing in common. What a deeply insulting statement about the Majority Whip. The Democratic party is the locus of black power in America. Bernie pledged to tear that down, never acknowleging how crucial the party is to black Americans.
