The next in our sequence is the Israeli Ischemic Heart Disease Study. This study was of ~10k civil servants in Israel. It found that the traditional risk factors previously well established were also the cause of heart disease in their population.
It showed an effect of "fatty acids" that existed before adjustment for cholesterol, but it disappeared after that adjustment. As pointed out previously, this is what we might expect, since the negative effects of SFA are mediated through this variable. karger.com/Article/Abstra… 
If there were more info about this study available, I would have more to say, but I haven't been able to find the original paper as a .pdf. If I find a copy I can say more. At the moment, I will count this as yet another study showing SFA associates with CHD.
