1/ @MZHemingway it’s important we start to come to terms with the reality that the dossier wasn’t just used to secure a wiretap. It was ordered/developed for that purpose. DOJ/FBI outsourced the work to Fusion GPS. Now let’s get into the implications of this NYT report...
2/ @MZHemingway says: “I think it’s funny that after a year of being told the dossier was the center, now we are told no it was Papadopoulos. I mean a guy no one ever heard of and in a weird way it’s actually a worse case then saying the dossier was the launch to the probe.”
3/ This brings the purpose and the need for the dossier into clearer relief. They may anchor this meeting with the Australian diplomat as the “launch” but it wasn’t enough to secure FISA. So DOJ/FBI went to Fusion GPS with very specific criteria for what “evidence” was needed.
4/ She says: “This hearsay from an Australian source who didn’t even report it for months. There’s something very sketchy about this story.” @MZHemingway you’re missing what was so sketchy. This meeting and a hunch was all DOJ/FBI had. Significance? Not enough to secure FISA!
5/ So DOJ/FBI set Fusion GPS to the task of “producing evidence”. Then in June you have a staged meeting between @DonaldJTrumpJr and Veselnitskaya. Followed by the original FISA application in July. This NYT report further reveals the coordination between DOJ/FBI & Fusion GPS.
6/ I wish @MZHemingway would at least start to ask the question, “Did DOJ/FBI just use the dossier or did they order the creation of fake evidence via the dossier?” That is the right question but it counters an agreed narrative and puts one at odds with the US government.
7/ The revelation of DOJ/FBI role in the creation of the dossier and the fake “evidence” is what is to come in 2018. They didn’t just “use” what Fusion GPS had created as independent oppo. I love @MZHemingway don’t get me wrong but it’s time she expand her scope a bit... /end
