“The Taliban wants to segregate women. So it’s training female doctors.”
“This makes me feel like we have done something useful, that all my years of fighting were worth it,” said a Taliban security guard..

Taliban are NOT training women to become doctors:

Taliban banned #Aghanwomen from attending universities and from getting higher education in Afghanistan, according to the letter released by the Taliban's Ministry of Higher Education. cbsnews.com/news/taliban-b…
I have to ask: just exactly how many #AfghanWomen did you interview before you published this story? I think you need to do more research: globalcitizen.org/en/content/afg…

On 24 November, a horrific incident in #Daikundi Province resulted in the killing of 10 people, including 4 children& one #Taliban member. 7 others, including 2 TB, were wounded in the incident. 5 were arrested by the TB.
No official source confirmed the number of casualties yet. ImageImageImageImage
There are contradictory information about the nature of Daikundi incident:
Anti-TB fronts: Taliban attacked a village and massacred Hazara civilians.
TB/Pro-TB sources: There was a civil lawsuit between 2 families& the IEA wanted to arrest some people, then the incident happened. ImageImageImageImage
Third Party/other sources:
Taliban went to a village on the outskirts of Nilli City, to arrest some locals over a #land_conflict between them, but they resisted and a clash happened. Some #Hazara TB (e.g. General Sadaqat), involved in the local conflicts, #provoked the incident. ImageImage

#Infighting between the #Taliban in Taluqan City, the capital of #Takhar Province reported today.
No confirmation/rejection of the news by the Taliban is available yet.
Video and Photos of the incident are unverified and copied from the open sources. Image
While some pro-Taliban SM accounts wrote that the clash in Taluqan was between the Taliban&ISKP (Daesh) loyalists, but trusted sources from the area told me otherwise.
A group of (model 2021) Uzbek Taliban, last week, attacked Takhar prison&released their friends (ex-militias)...
...the #Taliban were looking for those culprits. Today they found them and a clash erupted, that resulted in some casualties (from both sides, several killed&wounded).
Ex-governor of TB for #Takhar, Mawlawi Nuruddin, was the guarantor of the group which clashed with the TB today.

1888-1893: how did the Hazara Genocide happend?

According to historian, #Hazarajat was often deemed as a semi-independent region. By 1891, apart from #Uruzgan (then Hazara dominated) every Hazarajat region was forced to pay heavy taxes to Abdul Rahman Khan.

#HazaraBlackDay
Between 1880 and 1891, king Abdul Rahman Khan not only increased the already exorbitant taxes but introduced new ones throughout #Hazarajat, except Uruzgan which the mirs and khans of Hazara refused according to some accounts.
The introduction triple taxing Hazaras co-incided with the fact #Mohammadzai branch of Durranis (ruling elites) in #Kabul were receiving annual allowances from the Emir as partners of the state (i. e. sharik-e dawlat).

Twenty years ago this very week, my family and I were on a small wooden fishing boat in the Indian Ocean, having fled the barbarism of the #Taliban. We were rescued by the Norwegian containership, the MV Tampa, and denied entry to Australia at the point of a gun.
This also set into motion the torturous policy of offshore detention, where thousands of asylum seekers have been sentenced to indefinite imprisonment, for the simple act of wanting dignity and security.
Luckily for my family, good ole NZ came to our rescue and the rest is history. These photos show our dramatic rescue and the events thereafter. I detail our journey in my memoir #AfterTheTampa, out now at all major bookstores across Australia and New Zealand.

25. "Most #Hazara men were killed during the fight which spanned from 1891 to 1893. Dr Lee says that over 50 percent of the Hazara "male population" died as "a direct or indirect result of the war." This is, in my personal opinion, a very reasonable figure.
26. "Most for the Hazara women and children were taken captive and sold as slaves. Throughout the country, #Hazaras constituted the overwhelming majority of slaves in the bazaars. In fact there were so many that they greatly decreased the prices of slaves.
27. "According to Dr Lee, "thousands of [Hazara] women were forcibly married to #Pashtuns in a deliberate attempt to destroy #Hazara social and religious hierarchies."

I am going to share some findings of @NamaKadrie about the history of the Hazaras in this thread. This may help you in understanding the current situation in Afghanistan a bit better.
1. "In analysing the history of #Afghanistan, scholars and historians often assessed the independence and autonomy of a given region based on their ability to resist an imposition of tax. Paying levies was therefore the way power-relations and supremacy was understood.
2. "In this sense, the #Hazarajat as a whole was what scholars often deemed as a “semi-independent” region. By 1891, aside from #Uruzgan, every other region (14 districts) of the #Hazarajat paid taxes to Abdur Rahman Khan.

#Hazaras of #Afghanistan (thread):
They are the country’s 3rd largest ethnic group. There has never been a census based on ethnicity. They are estimated to constitute about 20% of the population, though Hazaras themselves claim between 25-30%. Predominantly #Shia +Sunni, Ismaili
#Hazaras speak Persian (Dari) and are arguably considered to be genetically Turk-Mongol with central Asian features. Predominantly dwelling in central #Afghanistan, called Hazarajat (the land of Hazaras) They also dwell in #Pakistan’s Balochistan and #Iran.
According to some historians “the Hazara people have been living in #Afghanistan for more than 2,000 years.” And their persecution began after the subjugation and incorporation of their land (Hazarajat) by the brutal Afghan king, Amir Abdul Rahman Khan in late 19th century.

Ennesimo thread sull’#Afghanistan.

A famous newspaper in #Iran, Jamhuri Islami (Islamic Republic), on its front page today printed a bold title: "A Shiite uprising launched in Afghanistan"
The newspaper reports that a new group called "Hashad al-Shiite" (Shiite uprising) has announced its existence in Afghanistan.
"I will command public uprising groups to fight alongside government forces and defend our homeland," Sayed Hassan al-Haydari, the leader of this new movement said in his first speech.
Haydari said that he will defend AFG's unity& sovereignty, with his experience of defending...
...#Shiite holy shrines/places in Iraq and Syria."
This comes as in December 2020, Iranian foreign minister, Javad Zarif, suggested that Afghan government could utilize members of the #Fatemiyoun militia, recruited& used by Iran to fight in Syria, in the fight against terrorism.

HRCP is appalled at PM Imran Khan's statement on being 'blackmailed' by the #Hazara mourners in Quetta, who have declared that they will bury their dead - victims of senseless violence - only after the PM visits them and ensures the future safety of their community. 1/3
The Hazara have long been relegated to the margins and persecuted to the point of genocide; to dismiss them as 'blackmailers' is disgraceful. The PM has a duty of care to the community and must respect their demand. 2/3 #HazaraKoJeenayDo

Thread: Who is behind #Hazarakillings & why?
Hundreds of Hazaras have been killed in multiple attacks & thousands have been forced to leave their business activities in #Quetta. One should note here that most successful businessmen in Qta once were a member of Hazara community.
Between 2010 and 2013, the Hazara community in general and Hazara shopkeepers, intellectuals, officers, and businesspeople remained a prime target. By 2014, such attacks had devastated commerce and snatched away most of Quetta's business from the #HazaraCommunity members.
A Hazara officer from the Intelligence Bureau in Quetta told me in 2015 that he could not digests most of the attacks directed at his community were "sectarian driven." "Some attacks on Hazara were aimed to takeaway Quetta's key business from us," he told me.

The massacre of 11 miners in #Balochistan is more of a 'strategic act' than sectarianism. Terrorism in Balochistan cannot be completely controlled without addressing the wider roles of #India & #Iran in #Afghanistan. /1

#thread

Many analysts see #hazaragenocide & #Shiagenocide in #Balochistan as part of a local sectarianism problem inside #Pakistan or regionally linked to #Iran & #KSA tussle. But it could have more to do with #Afghanistan than Pakistan or the #Gulf. /2
To understand why #Balochistan incident (incl #Hazara/#Shia attacks) may not necessarily be sectarianism and more an offshoot of a bigger strategic problem, consider this #Ashura attack in #Karachi, which was not sectarian: /3
