๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ’ป How do you use GitHub and RStudio?

If you connect your local repository with a remote repository (for instance on GitHub), youโ€™ll be able to store it also in the cloud and access it from everywhere. Setting up this connection is easy in @rstudio - just follow these steps: Visualization showing a typical workflow when using GitHub i
@rstudio You can see one detailed use case in the GIF. It shows how I typically set up a project in #rstats with GitHub when working in academia

@AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter
@rstudio @AcademicChatter I create a #GitHub repository first (depending on data privacy and other things, I go for either public or private but I always add a README. READMEs are great because they allow you write a short description of your repository in #markdown)

Hey @DestLinuxPod Halfway through ep271 and I'm liking your rundown of #foss/#floss on mobile๐Ÿ“ฑ. Personally I use Opera browser as it's the only one to support fit-to-zoom so I don't have to strain to see small text on sites that don't render well on mobile. But I'd like to draw
your attention to Bromite, particularly @dasgeekchannel. It strips all tracking kind of like ddg. I'm dubious about ddg as the company is based in the USA but they have held up well so far.
I really prefer a folder structure with my notes and nowadays lean heavily toward #markdown. I've tried many over the years but all seem to cease development. Found Markor on F-Droid and it's perfect for me, so I donated him a tenner.โ€ฆ

But I use a lot of #FOSS software on my @Microsoft #Windows desktop that I'd be lost without!

If you need to perform some audio editing, Audacity is a huge help. I often use it when fixing audio for a video or converting a recording for use in a phone system menu.

Tons of features & useful tools!

1/ Following up, I built a system that scans the #COVID19SL press-releases published on the @infodprtsl website ( for structured information - like statistics, isolated areas etc.

Output is atโ€ฆ and is updated every few hours.

2/ The output contains,
- Copies of the original press-releases (JPEGs)
- Plain text, from #OCR
- Structured information as JSON
- A summary structured information in #Markdown

(All updated every few hours)

E.g. here's the output for the press-release published today (June 13):
3/ The information might be useful data analysts, medical researches and journalists.

Here's a twitter version of my @OBF_BOSC #BOSC2020 #BCC2020 talk about @nf_core ๐Ÿš€

@nf_core is a community effort to collect best-practice analysis pipelines built using @nextflowio. They run on almost any computational infrastructure and bundle all software requirements.
There are @nf_core community guidelines to ensure that all pipelines are consistent and reproducible. To help pipeline users and developers there is a command-line helper tool ( and of course we create and maintain a set of pipelines ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ”ง

There are currently 25 pipelines with stable releases. Each release gets a @ZENODO_ORG DOI and tagged @docker
images for ultimate reproducibility.

We aim for one @nf_core pipeline per analysis type, collaborating on adding new features for the whole community.

โœ… Auto generated citation and bibliography generation (integration with @zotero)
โœ… Did I mention reproducible?
โœ… Simple colour adjustment for poster to match you lab/company/school design requirements...
