This is incredible. In the major battle for Yemen's port city of Hodeida, the Houthis are outnumbered by US-backed UAE/Saudi forces up to 10-to-1.

2,000-5,000 Houthis are battling 21,000-26,500 foreign-backed troops. And they're putting up quite a fight.

Note that the US-backed UAE/Saudi coalition is using large numbers of hyper-sectarian Salafi extremists to fight against the Houthis.

The US-Saudi-UAE coalition has allied with al-Qaeda fighters against the Houthis numerous times throughout this war.
Although they are vastly outnumbered by foreign-backed troops, the Houthis have published video showing them in Hodeida doing serious damage to UAE-led forces, destroying several armored vehicles.

(Movie Review Thread) I just saw Peter Jackson's new film They Shall Not Grow Old, a documentary on World War I. The film is technically breathtaking, but I was shocked to see a film on WWI that is completely apolitical. It's about political mass slaughter but it avoids politics!
They Shall Not Grow Old does not even try to explain why WWI was fought — let alone why it was an entirely preventable, pointless inter-imperialist bloodbath that led to the unnecessary deaths of tens of millions of (almost entirely poor) people!
Instead the whole point of the film is to humanize the soldiers fighting in WWI and show what day-to-day life was for them. And that's great; it's important to see the mind-boggling horrors of WWI and trench warfare. But that must be done *in historical and political context*.

I just saw @ViceMovie, and it's brilliant. The film shows how well-made narratives can capture the zeitgeist and politics of an era not only more captivatingly but even more accurately than documentaries. Because it's not just about the facts; it's about the tone and attitude.

Yemeni troops (pro Hadis and Southern Resistance) are rapidly advancing towards to strategic port city of #Hodeida with the intensive support of the Arab Coalition.
In a few days, they advances more than 60 kilometers through the #Hodeida.
South of the #Hodeida is open terrain without big towns, its make easy to advance through north. #Houthis are fighting better in the mountains and urban areas because they can evade the airstrikes in these areas.

Yemeni troops captured so much open vast areas in few days, its increasing risk of the #Houthi attacks from eastern mountains. They can harass the Yemeni convoys, checkpoints from there and with the sudden attacks they can cut off the Yemeni supply lines.
